. . . ON THE SAME DAY OUR DOSSIER WAS APPROVED!
I do not even have words to write this post, and it may not even make sense. I’m emotionally elated and exhausted at the same time! At 1:37 today we got news that our dossier was approved and that we were #41 on the boy list & #38 on the siblings list. I was so excited (if you hadn’t already noticed from my earlier post!). It felt like we had so many roadblocks in getting our dossier done correctly that I was just happy to be FINISHED with that phase! At 5:20, I got another call from AGCI – a call I NEVER expected IN A MILLION YEARS to get today. While I was dancing around my house celebrating the completion of the dossier process, our case manager was preparing to call us with the news that we had a REFERRAL!
After she started sharing information about a precious, precious little 3.5-year-old boy, we interrupted her and asked how in the world this could have happened. We literally thought she had the wrong people. Like maybe she had dialed the wrong number or something. But she meant to call us because this little boy didn’t fit the parameters of the FORTY people ahead of us on the waitlist.
When she first called, she asked how I was doing. I replied, “Oh, I’m doing GREAT! We’re so excited and relieved to finally be on the waitlist!” Her response was, “Well, congratulations! I do have some news that could be shocking, and I’d love to talk to you and Brad about a little boy we think could be a great fit for your family.” Say what?!
Brad happened to be home and even in the very same room at that moment, so I scribbled “referral!!!!” on a piece of paper (with a crazy, dazed look in my eyes), put her on speaker, and she began to tell us lots and lots of details about the little boy we like to think is already ours. After our lengthy conversation, she emailed us a whole bunch of documents and PICTURES! Our hearts melted, and the “circumstances” around this whole deal suddenly seem to be so much more than just mere “circumstances.” We are still in shock and amazed at the events of this day. It is a day that I will certainly never forget.
More to come later when my head stops spinning . . .
{Oh, and we can’t post pictures online, but let me tell you that he is soooo handsome!}
