There was once a man who lived in Port Au Prince, Haiti with his wife. Together they cared for 20 orphans. Then Tuesday, January 12, 2010 came and a catastrophic earthquake hit the poorest nation in the Americas. Among the thousands and thousands of casualties was this wife. In an instant, this man lost his love and his partner, and in the coming weeks and months those 20 orphans turned into 78.
On her most recent trip to Haiti, our friend Sarah Jane and the team she was working with, were introduced to this man and the children in his care. They saw for themselves the collapsed and barely standing buildings they call “home.” They saw children with no access to clean water and proper sanitation, children with little to no clothes, children with no safe place to sleep. And they left compelled to do something.
As a result, they are partnering with Healing Hands International to REBUILD THE ORPHANAGE! The tentative start date for building the final structures is the last week of May. Creation of a temporary safe house and demolition of the existing structures and rubble will start in April. The fundraising goal is now $25,000 thanks to the generous partnership by Healing Hands. All donations are tax deductible and every penny will go to rebuild the facility. If you are interested in contributing to help this need, please send a check payable to”Providence” c/o Sarah Jane Madole to 346 Stable Road, Franklin, TN 37069.
I’ll be sure to share updates & photos from Sarah Jane here on the blog, so if you contribute, you’ll be able to see what (and more importantly WHO) your money is going to help. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me . . . and be sure to watch this video (I love the end!).
