A few weeks ago, Yohannes had to get six shots. It was so hard to hold him while he cried and screamed “Mommy! No! Hurts! All done! No more, Mommy!” I was so relieved to have those vaccinations out of the way, and I felt really bad for having to hold him down while a strange woman hurt him (at least that’s how I imagined that he perceived it). To try to sort of make up for that and reward him for being so brave, we stopped by Centennial Park before heading home. I happened to have a baggie of Cheerios in my purse, so we fed them to the geese. While feeding ALL the geese that live at Centennial Park, we met some new friends!
Art and Katie recently adopted their little man from Ethiopia, too, and they got back home right around the same time we did. It was really a blessing to meet them that day. I went home excited about making new friends and encouraged that there are so many little Ethiopian kiddos here in Nashville. While talking to them, I found out that they live really, really close to us – which was even more fun. We became Facebook friends and arranged to meet up at a nearby park last week to hang out.
Here are some pictures I took as we went for a walk. Our new little friend had a nasty fall right as we hit the trail and cut his forehead on a rock. We started to turn around and reschedule, but he’s a tough guy, and we decided to keep going. Yohannes had fun spending time with his new friend, and I’m sure we’ll do it again soon (hopefully without any head injuries this time!).
